From TOM Bass to TOMball. . .

On Saturday, March 27th, Jadon went to a Cub Scout Field Day & Pinewood Derby @ Tom Bass Park.  They had lots of activities for them to do.  Jadon was pretty successful with the Pine Derby race.  He came in 1st place during test runs, 2nd place in the play-off, then 1ST PLACE in the finals.

     1st Place WINNER

Here are some pictures to show some of what they did in addition to the derby races.  My video camera had the wrong setting in the beginning so some pictures have a blue tint to them. However, the moment was captured perfectly:

Jadon was so proud of himself and so was I.  We really appreciate the SHAC, Boy Scouts of America. We also appreciate the troop leaders that make days like this possible.

================================================
Immediately after the cub scout event, we had to head home to shower and change for a birthday party at ITZ in Tomball by 6:30pm.

The guest ate at the buffet, won door prizes from the birthday boy, ate cake and played games. I did not take many pictures but here are a few shots of Jadon I had to put on here.

Because the party did not start off with playtime and Jadon didn't know when they would get to play, he created his own game with a balloon. He just cannot sit still and does not have a problem playing by himself.

I had Jadon come sit next to me because he was not listening to me from across the room. He is quite the entertainer when he wants to play.  Here he is giving himself an artificial nose job by sucking in his nose.

Now I HAD to put this picture on here. After the cake, the kids were given a game card. Strange thing, this card did not have a number of tokens on it, but had a time on it.  Jadon was allowed 30 mins to play as many games possible within the 30 min. time period.  Not very fun. Anyway, we stood in line because Jadon really wanted to ride the bumper cars.  He never rode them before and he was ready to go.  He gets on the ride, looks happy. I was able to take this picture.  As the ride started up, I looked up from my phone just in time to see Jadon snatch off the seat belt and bolt across and out the gate like his life was in jeapardy.  I was so upset with him. Not that he was scared, but because of the way he was over dramatic.  I must say this was not a "Proud Mommy Moment".  I must have been really tired from the active day, that I did not come across "understanding". I gave his winning tickets and game card away and took him home.

I know that may sound very harsh but during the party I had to get on him several times because he was letting his bordom get the best of him and he was being very disruptive.  This situation was the final straw. It was time for us both to get some rest.  Other than that, it was a wonderful day.

March 26, 2009

Today Jadon and I went to see the new animated movie "How to Train Your Dragon 3-D".  This movie was so beautiful and touching with a happy ending.  Jadon really enjoyed this movie.  We were driving from the theatre and he would say "Mom, look at that bush. It looks like a Dragon".  Then every tree and bush we passed by he would say, "Yep, that looks like a dragon". It was soooo cute.

Later this evening, Jadon gives me this rock.  He said it looks like a heart. And it does. He is so sweet. A while back he threw a white rock in our driveway on the sidewalk and it cracked open revealing the crystal look all around. He gave it to me and said I could make a pretty necklace.  I keep all the rocks he gives me in my jewelry box because they all have meaning.

The best part about this day was looking over at my husband watching a movie and holding my sleeping Jadon in his arms. Just melts my heart.  He had fun playing table games with his dad after dinner.  Don't want to forget to mention that.  Tommorrow he has a cub scout event and a birthday party to go to but I will leave that for my post tomorrow.

Monkey Bizness w/ Personal Trainer

I am sitting in Monkey Bizness after my extreme workout with my personal trainer, Jadon Harris. Yes, that's right. Last night Jadon told me that if I wanted to lose weight he will have to be my personal trainer.  It started with Jumping Jacks, Squats around the house and today racing through Monkey Bizness.

I must say, this is the most exciting time I've had working out. It was indeed a workout, but I had a blast. I had to start by racing Jadon through this obsticle course.

All around to the giant slide where I had the most fun. I even skinned my elbow. Ouch! Keep your arms up if you ever come with short sleeve. NEVER let any part of your body touch the slide.

After 30 mins. I needed a break. I was thirsty and out of breath my first round, but Jadon kept saying, "No, I'm your personal trainer. If you want to lose weight you have to do what I say. So keep going".  So there you have it. I kept going and I feel great!  After 15 more minutes, I was allowed to take my break and get water while Jadon ignored me to play tag with another kid.  I guess he was tired of playing with me, LOL.

You know, who ever said that it was immature for adults to run around the playground like little children?  Why did we ever stop? It is so much fun.  With Jadon as my personal trainer, I'm sure to be in tip top shape.  That boy is an energizer bunny.

Storybook Opera @ Discovery Green

Yes, Yes again we went to Discovery Green to check out the Storybook Opera.  The kids seemed to enjoy the story with a lot of child participation. I thought the entire story would be told in 'opera singing' style but it was actually a story read. There was only singing when the character in the story was singing.  All-in-all, Jadon had a great time. The kids even received a free toy flute from Target.

After the story, that was both in english and spanish, Jadon had the opportunity to play on the playground for two hours. I should have brought a book, but I happen to have my headphones to keep me company as I sat and watched Jadon play chase with the other kids. I enjoyed watching him go up to kids asking "do you want to play chase" until one said yes and he takes off running. When that child leaves, he continues the same routine.  Another fun filled spring break day!

Burgers & Blues @ Discovery Green

Jadon sitting at our spot while I went to get the food

Today we went to Discovery Green where Jadon and I sat along the water,

ate burgers and fries,

while listening to the blues music of Milton Hopkins Band.

However, I know to pack my own lunch next time because 1 burger, 1 sm fries and 2 drinks cost me $16.18.

Wonder what can be done about the yucky looking water?

If they can turn it blue, it would be perfect. Other than that, it was nice and sunny.

Discovery Green on Mar. 13, 2010

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, I took Jadon to Discovery Green to try out the Zumbatomic: Zumba workout for children ages 4 - 12. It's a fast-forward fusion of the Zumba program moves (salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, hip-hop and more).

Here is Jadon with the Zumba instructors. He had such a great time, he jumped up on the stage to give them a hug and thank them.  They agreed to take a picture with them for the blog.
Every Saturday @ 11:30am - 12:00pm http://www.discoverygreen.com/

=================================================

After Zumbatomic, I let Jadon play on the playground for a few minutes while I learned how to finger knit.  As we began walking back to the car, we saw that a St. Patrick Day Parade was in progress, so we stopped on the curb and enjoyed about 30 mins of it.

(Thanks Bubbles Car Wash for the coupon to receive a free $8 car wash. I simply said, "Oh I need to get my car washed today and a young lady walked up to me and handed me a key chain with a free wash. Perfect timing! Now I have unlimited car washes and vacuum for $19.95mo.)
After lunch and a car wash, we headed out to Jessie Jones Nature Park. The pictures are still on my digital camera.  Will upload a few later when I download them.

Cub Scout Trip to Cici's Pizza and GoKart Track

Today must have been a great day for the little one.  School lets out early on Fridays which means the community center after-school program started early, too. Reuben and I dropped Jadon off to the community center at 1:00pm then made our way out to see the new movie, "Alice in Wonderland, 3D".  After the movie, we headed back to the community center to follow the cub scouts on their trip which started at 4:00pm.

First Stop Cici's Pizza

Back in the van for next stop. . .
opps, camera phone. Missed one. Sorry :-(

GoKart Track

Due to height requirements, some chose to ride the Go-Karts while others played games inside.  Jadon on the other hand refused to ride not because he was too short, but he was afraid he would crash and die.  But hey, gotta love those video games!
