Mad Science @ Discovery Green

Took Jadon to see Mad Science booth at the Discovery Green today.  I was expecting more science experiments, but Jadon seemed to have enjoyed the bug display. They had a table set up with different bugs. They even gave him a free prize --Insect-a Vision, Bug Eye.  Mad Science offer summer camps, after school programs and birthday parties. Check them out http://www.madscience.com/

I liked this microscope. It uses a photo slide. (I had to tell Jadon to not put his eyes on the shared instruments. Just saw the Bernie Mac show yesterday about Pink Eye. Be safe!)

This is Mad Scientist, Ross. I think that was his name. He was very informative and interacted very well with Jadon's and his 101 questions.

We stayed for about 10 mins then I let Jadon play on the park. What puzzles me is that when we had to walk from parking to the park in the shade of an umbrella, Jadon felt like he was dying because he was hot and tired. But when he gets on the playground he is full of energy, playing around in direct sunlight. KIDS!

Houston Zoo Field Trip With 3rd Grade Students

I know this blog post is a week late; But better late than never, right? Well last week, May 6th, my step-mom, Evelyn, invited Jadon and me along with her 3rd grade class to the Houston Zoo. This would be our 2nd annual zoo trip together.  Here are a few pictures that were taken. Now once again, please excuse the blue tint on a few of the pictures. I forget the setting sometimes. Silly me:

.
Here is Jadon with his Momo.

Now just look at that face. He is trying to fight back tears and anger because he got into trouble. I forgot what it was he did wrong, but looking at this pictures still breaks my heart. I am such a softy when it comes to my baby. But I have to be tough on him sometimes or he will walk all over me.

After the zoo experience, the kids went back to the buses for lunch. Look at all those goodies!

Once everyone received their lunch, we sat under a shade tree and had a picnic.  Girls on one blanket, boys on another. Where is Jadon, yep, with the ladies.  Well to be honest, he wanted to go with the boys, but he already followed me to the blanket so I made him stay with me to ensure he ate his lunch and not let trash fly everywhere. I ruin all his fun!

After lunch, the kids loaded back on the buses. Now since Jadon is homeschooled, he has never experienced being on a school bus. Therefore, he had the opportunity to load up with the students.

It was a great day!

See you next time, Momo. . .

A Day with Iron Chef's Chairman, Mark Dacascos and Friends

May 1, 2010

Putting Jadon in Martial Arts was a great move. It has it's advantages:

Need I say more?  Well maybe a little.  After the event, we were invited to join Mark Dacascos and the EMAC crew for dinner at Patrenella's Italian Restaurant. We had such a great time.  Mark is so down to earth. It was like hanging with family.  He is so fun to be around.  You can see more of Mark at http://www.dacascos.com/  also check out his many movies. Very talented.

April 14: Jadon on Court with Houston Rockets!!!

Tuesday I received a text from Jadon's cub scout den leader asking if we would like tickets to the Rockets game on Wednesday.  Of course we said yes! Little did we know Jadon would have a special opportunity. As we waited at the box office for our Division leader to bring us the tickets, Jadon had a chance to pose with a couple of the Houston Rockets
When we received our tickets, we were advised that Jadon would be able to go on the court and do a ball exchange with the Rockets players while they were being introduced. I was so excited. Jadon didn't know what was going on. As we went to the table to sign a release form, we were stopped by security. . .What was going on? I got my camera ready because I knew someone important must have been coming through if everyone was stopped by security.  There he was right in front of us, YAO MING!
This guy is ginormous! He is taller than the letters above the door.  Well after we signed in we waited in the lobby until it was time to go to our seats. . .

Five of the scouts were chosen to participate on the court.

We left Jadon as we went to our seats. We were on the 2nd row from the very top, but with Jadon being on the floor, it didn't matter where we were sitting.  The view is much better at the top anyway. You can see EVERYTHING!

You probably do not notice right off, but if you look at the seats on the floor above the name Rockets, you will see a yellow dot.  That is my Jadon's hat. Right behind the guy in red.  Don't see him yet? Well how about this:
I know you see him now!
I was so excited!
When the game started, Player #44, Chuck Hayes, passed Jadon a ball. . .I took those two photos off the tv when I got home from the game.  They didn't show the kids. How disappointing,

but if you look at the picture of Hayes he looks down to look at Jadon as he hands him the ball that was autographed by player #10, Chase Budinger. I couldn't get a clear shot of Chase so I saved this copy off the internet.

Here is Jadon with his autographed ball.

We had the honor of having Hakeem Olajuwon in the house. He signed a basketball and tossed it into the stands.  I didn't get a shot of that because the battery in my camera "pretended" to die on me when I tried to take a picture.  He is the one on the front row in the yellow shirt and bold head. I was able to get a better shot of him after the game. Here it is:

Unfortunately, the Rockets did not win this night. They winning the game would have been the icing on the cake. But when the cake is so good, icing doesn't even matter.  We had a blast anyway!

After the game, we headed back to our truck and took a few more pictures.

Proud Parents, sitting 2nd row from the top!

Thank you Mr. Brentis for the invite.
Thank you Mr. Guillory for setting up a meeting time.
Thank you Mr. Adams for the tickets and the opportunity.
Thank you Boy Scouts of America!

April 13, 2010 WELCOME HOME

For those who may not know, Jadon and I had been staying at my mother-in-law house for 13 days to help assist her and her husband while my sister-in-law visited her family in Hawaii. When we came home, my wonderful hubby had a nice Welcome Home set-up for us.
 Together Again!!!!!!!!!

April 12, 2010: Pizza Night with Dad

Jadon had cub scouts today so I dropped him to the community center and went back to my mother-in-law house. When Reuben got off work, he picked Jadon up.  For dinner, they decided to go to Pizza Hut.  These are the pictures he sent to me:
